As we all know, the golf course has become a great networking environment and a most relaxing place to conduct business for both avid golfers and non-golfers. On October 16th, IFMA Greater New York Chapter had another excellent Golf Outing, despite having had to cancel two previous times due to rain. IFMA members were keeping their fingers crossed this time round that the weather would hold up. And so it did! We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.
Carole Green, President of the IFMA Greater NY Chapter and Facility Administrator for Hofheimer Gartlir & Gross, was delighted with the turnout. She was impressed that despite two previous cancellations, the event was sold out even before the invitations went out, proving that golf remains an excellent business networking tool in today’s business world. Carole also expressed her gratitude to the Golf Committee for all their hard work in organizing the golf outing three times over, and having it turn out to be such a success. Moreover, she mentioned how the Leewood Golf Club was so accommodating with the need to cancel the outing twice. “We could not have hoped for a nicer venue and day. It was just so wonderful to see everyone having a great time and hearing them at the end of the day express their desire to attend next year’s golf outing.”
As all the golfers arrived and started getting ready for the all-day event, you could see the enthusiasm among them all, eager to start golfing, and looking forward to concluding the event with the cocktail party, followed by an over-the-top dinner. This golf outing was truly a perfect setting to bring together a wide spectrum of 120 business people from the tri-state area, such as: Steve Giordano from Aragon Construction, Marty Sillen from ZenithOptimedia, Frank Lazzaro, Michael Passaro & Frank Morano from NBC Universal, Daniel Appleby from Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, Ellen Hains from Humanscale, Ray Sam & Mavi Gilmore from Swanke Hayden & Connell, Harold Star from THINKSPACENY, Michael Romano from GVA Williams, Lucy Carter from Spacesmith, Barbara Iannucci from Knoll, Rachel Weiner from Evenson Best, Marlene Weisler from American Red Cross, Robert Garrity from Haworth, JJ Falk from JJ Falk Design, Marty Cottingham from Grubb & Ellis, and many more. Moreover, it was impressive to see the number of women golfers continuing to grow from the previous years.
As the golf event concluded, the golfers headed back to the clubhouse to get ready for the cocktail party and dinner, and the opportunity to network and mingle amongst their peers. During the dinner, Carole Green spoke and thanked Brian Ostrowe for the fabulous job he did last year as past President of the IFMA Greater NY Chapter. After her speech, Donna, the wife of Howard Safir from Waldner’s Business Environment, expressed her sincere gratitude to IFMA for their support and donations over the past year. Prizes and awards were then given to the best players, followed by the Raffle.
