We recently had the pleasure to meet with Ted Moudis, AIA, Founder and Owner of Ted Moudis Associates. He gave us some insight on Ted Moudis Associates and its role in the Greater New York Chapter of IFMA. Ted Moudis Associates is one of our Titanium Sponsors.
Tell us about yourself and when did you start Ted Moudis Associates?
TM: I started in the industry in 1975 working for an architectural company and then became Partner in 1983. I left in 1990 to start my own firm, Ted Moudis Associates where I’ve been an owner and a senior principal for the past 18 years.
Tell us a little bit about Ted Moudis Associates.
TM: We are headquartered in New York with an office in Chicago, which opened in 2001.
Ted Moudis Associates is an architectural and interior design firm with an international practice, specializing in corporate and retail interiors. Our role as Architect is to partner with our clients. We assure that our clients receive a personal commitment from the project team for the success of each and every project undertaken. By consistently focusing on Service and our Clients, we are able to enhance the success of our projects. We encourage environmental stewardship in parallel with enhancing people's daily activities through design. We take client satisfaction personally and build enduring relationships based on honesty, integrity and mutual respect. We have 110 employees in the New York office and 20 in the Chicago office.
What makes it unique?
TM: In addition to focusing on service and our clients, we find creative solutions to our client’s unique needs. Larger, more complex clients seek a design partner to provide a custom response to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness. Smaller, emerging companies want an affordable solution delivered quickly. We have the overall experience and strategy that allows us to support both customer groups while achieving innovative and sustainable design solutions that deliver the highest value for each dollar our clients spend.
Another distinguishing factor of our firm is that we prepare for down turns in the economy, which is very important and has helped us stay successful and strong during even the most difficult times.
What recent company achievement or development would you like share with readers of this interview?
TM: The Newsweek project which is approximately 150,000 square feet is quite an achievement for us. They are a very visible and important client and they are considering achieving a LEED CI certification. We have also just been awarded a 350,000 square foot project for a large foreign bank.
How did you and your firm get involved with IFMA?
TM: I’ve been the moving force in the firm’s participation in IFMA. I’ve been a member for 15 years and am a huge supporter of the local chapter. I find that the annual golf outing and the annual awards banquet are two excellent networking opportunities.
It’s important to be out in the market place and I believe IFMA is a very professional way to do that. Sometimes members work with other members and it’s an easy and comfortable way to do business. This is how IFMA has impacted our firm.
